Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Policy

The Kennedy Free Library is committed to a world that embraces diversity, equity and inclusion through policies, resources, programs, and actions that respects and supports a community of individual differences. The Kennedy Free Library aims to meet the needs of all regardless of age, race, ethnicity, national origin, cultural background, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, family status, religion, disability, health, socioeconomic, and veteran status.

We will continue to:

• Make resources and technology accessible to all patrons
• Regularly evaluate our library programs, policies, and collections to ensure we are meeting the diverse needs of our community
• Ensure our Board of Trustees represents the diverse backgrounds and needs of our community
• Train staff on topics of equity, diversity and inclusion
• Provide factual, unbiased materials that address the history of social and racial injustice

We recognize that to achieve these will require a continuous process of learning. The Kennedy Free Library Board of Trustees and staff pledge to support equity, diversity, and inclusion throughout all aspects of our organization and community.
